Our History

Since the early 1990's, sp3 pioneered the development of CVD diamond technologies. Not only CVD diamond deposition, but also its' practical application to meet the requirements of our customers. The company developed a hot-filament reactor process that allows the practical application of diamond coatings in cost effective ways and even today those processes continue to be refined for maximum productivity.

sp3 coats for its customers: cutting tools, silicon wafers, electrodes, CMP pad conditioners, consumables used in semiconductor etching equipment, as well as many other products.

Today the company is comprised of a team of experts in the fields of chemistry, physics, material science, manufacturing, finance and sales, all of which play a key role in its efforts to provide coating services.

Based in Silicon Valley, this American company has been fortunate to be able to build its team from some of the best and brightest in fields that matter to not only CVD diamond deposition, but to its practical application, in a way that enables our customers to have the best products for their needs.

Our ability to deposit diamond is a direct result of our proprietary CVD diamond reactor, process technologies, and our coating service capabilities. Our detailed understanding of the unique properties of diamond coatings allows us to bring to market a wide variety of CVD diamond technologies for an increasing number of applications.

I have 20 years of experience working within material companies supplying a variety of products to diverse industries. My overall business background lends itself to improving Sales and Operational functions while growing a dynamic team culture.

With over 40 years in the cutting tool industry, holding positions progressively increasing in responsibility, this experience comprised of engineering, marketing and sales uniquely qualifies me to work with the different markets and provide solutions to our customers expectations.

Nga Vu, Director of R&D / Engineering

With 12 years of experience in hot filament chemical vapor deposition diamond, I have developed a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this field. I have gained proficiency in optimizing diamond growth parameters and characterizing diamond films using a variety of techniques. I am enthusiastic about further exploring diamond's potential in diverse applications.

Brett Jacobs, Director of Reactor Development

I earned my PhD in Plasma Physics from UCLA and spent 6 years developing semiconductor processing equipment.
